FAQ:
What is the DCCS?
- The DCCS is a non-profit
organization that's purpose is to connect and support
costumers of all kinds that live in Colorado.
- It is also the Colorado
chapter of the International Costumers Guild, which is the
largest costuming community in North America.
What does the DCCS do?
- We want to not only focus on
cosplay but any kind of costuming as a whole. We'll be
sponsoring events like photoshoots, tutorials, workshops,
swap meets, online forums, special access to events and
costuming displays.
Why should I join the DCCS?
- Members will have the first
shot, and sometimes the only, at many of these events. There
will be a members-only section of the forums, events that
will have a lower cost for members, and member only events.
On top of that, being a member gives you an automatic $10
off photography by Digital Dreams and 10% off make-up from
Sam & Alison. Members are also invited to vote on events
that happen in the DCCS as well as vote in board elections.
- These are only the starting
benefits and we are planning to soon provide many more!
Can I join even if I don't live in Denver/Colorado/North
America?
- Of course! People from
outside of Denver/Colorado/North America are still more than
welcome to join! You will have access to all the same
benefits as the other members!
How do I join the DCCS?
- It's really easy! All you
have to do is fill out the form and pay the $15 membership
fee. There are a couple of ways to do this. Any convention
or event that we're at, we will also be open to collect
sign-ups at the con. The other way is to fill out the online
form and use PayPal to pay for the membership fee.
The
third way is to print out the form, fill it out, and then
mail it and your check or money order to the address on the
form. Click here to see the membership form (coming soon)!
A $15 membership fee? For
what? Cosplay/costuming is just my hobby, I don't want to have
to pay to do it.
- The membership fee is for a
couple of reasons. The first and foremost is because the
International Costumers Guild charges for membership. The
rest we use to cover local financial needs like deposits and
reservations for member event locations, the costs of
printing paperwork, and the costs of running the website.
So you don't get paid?
- Nope! All of the money is
used to purchase either places to gather and do photoshoots
or purchase awards to present at conventions.
What if I don't want to join or I'm not sure yet? Can I still
participate in the DCCS?
- Absolutely! This group is
meant to include ANYONE who wants to come have fun and learn
with us, and you can be as involved or uninvolved as you
like. We will have open events that will be open to everyone
along with member-only events.
So who is in charge of the DCCS?
How can I get involved with
the DCCS?
- The most basic way to get
involved is to come to one of the public gatherings. This
will let you meet people and participate in some of the
events.
- The best way to get involved
is to join though! It costs $15 a year to join, you have to
agree to the Society's By-laws, and we need some of your
information, but then you are all signed up! Costumers 13
years of age or under have to bring their legal guardian
with them when they sign-up.
- People from outside of
Colorado are still more than welcome to join! You still get
the discounts that the group has, but you might not be able
to participate in the events as easily.
- After you sign-up and we
have time to confirm your payment, you will be mailed your
membership card that will have your member number on it as
well as when your membership expires. You will need to renew
your membership every year.
- After you join, the sky is
the limit! You could even be a future board member!
